Governing Body

The Wellington Academy is part of the Wellington College Academy Trust. The trustees are responsible for meeting the aims of the trust for delivering the transformational education and life chances for local communities embodied in its purpose. The Trustees are like a board of directors and set the overall strategy, appoint the Executive Principal and ensure the trusts finances are in good order. Each academy in the Trust has a Local Governing Body, comprising some of the trust directors, but also other people who will best serve the Academy, including parent governors. The Local Governing Body are responsible to the Trust for education standards and outcomes and ensuring the expectation of our students and their families are met. The Local Governing Body fulfils certain legal requirements such as reviewing exclusions and also address complaints if these cannot be answered by the school staff. The details of the Chair of Governors are on the academy’s website on the Governance page. The Chairman of Governors can be contacted by writing to the Academy or, if more urgent contact is required, please contact the Head of Governance on 01264 405060 or via admin@thewellingtonacademy.org.uk
