Vision and Values
Academies are about transforming education and life chances for local communities - and our academy is no different. We aspire to make quick and permanent changes to the quality of education and care that students receive in the Ludgershall, Tidworth and surrounding area.

Our values are based on the fundamental belief that all students can achieve, succeed and thrive - and that it is our job to ensure this happens. All staff appointed to work in the academy have signed up to a charter statement. Staff charter.

The charter represents a working document which we will use to ensure that our values are evident in our practice on a daily basis.

Our Academy draws its inspiration from the purpose behind the academies programme, from the ethos of our sponsor, Wellington College, as well as from a vision of a world-class 21st century education. This vision is informed by our understanding of highly successful practice, both in this country and abroad.

The Wellington College 'DNA' which will be adapted as the basis for the ethos of our Academy is centred around: excellence, leadership, service to others, boarding, outstanding pastoral care through houses, internationalism and outdoor education. In addition, the College has long standing links with the military, which will continue in the Academy, given the proximity of the school to the proposed super garrison at Tidworth.

Schools world-wide are grappling with questions that relate to how education must evolve to match the changing world and the aspirations of young people, their families and communities. Many of these questions go to the very heart of the purposes of education and challenge us all to re-think much of what we have taken for granted over the years.

The Academy provides an education that is fundamentally inclusive, personalised and in tune with the human spirit, as well as reflecting the diverse interests and aptitudes of our students. We will draw on leading practice world-wide in the design of our buildings, our courses and our ethos - and will measure ourselves against the very best that the rest of the world has to offer in terms of a 21st century education.

Eight Aptitudes

Our Academy aims to nurture and develop eight aptitudes that lie within each student. The eight aptitudes are:
Linguistic and Logical
Social and Personal
Cultural and Physical
Moral and Spiritual
Schools have traditionally concentrated on and rewarded a narrow range of aptitudes, such as the linguistic and logical, as well as down playing the other areas in which skill and expertise can be demonstrated.

The eight aptitudes is based on the multiple intelligences theory of Howard Gardner, as adapted by Wellington College. It can be summed up in the quote: "Don't ask how intelligent your child is. Ask in what way are they intelligent?"
