On Wednesday 19th July we held our student awards ceremony here at the Academy. Staff had been asked to put forward student’s names from each year group for one of the following categories: Academic Progress, Contribution to Community, Going the Extra Mile, Leadership, Resilience and Determination, and for the first time this year students could be nominated for Personality of the Year. The evening started with Ellis Crosbee taking to the stage to sing ’Wonderwall’ which was fantastic and he sang again later on in the evening. The students nominated for each award was announced before we found out the winner for each year group This was intersperse with short videos of those students nominated for Personality of the Year explaining why they thought that they should win (some were more modest than others!) . We had a short break half way through so that parents, carers and students could get a few nibbles and refreshments from the bar. We were also treated to a beautiful rendition of ‘Diamonds’ from Holly Davies and Katie Honeybun with support on the keyboard from their music teacher. The last award announced was Personality of the Year which was awarded to Alex Gordon and Phoebe Green. The evening closed with a final word from our Executive Head Teacher Abrilli Phillip. All in all it was a fantastic night, so many of our students are doing amazing things and working hard. It was fantastic to point out and praise some of them through nominations. Well done to all those who won an award. To those of you who missed out this time, remember there is always next year. Special Thanks must go to Miss Sophie Norrish who organised the event, and thanks to all those who supported in some way.
