The Wellington Academy's first (but not last!) Race for Life event took place during a little bit of rain on Saturday just before the Summer Festival on the Field. It didn't however dampen the spirits of 32 of our students along with staff and members of students families who ran the course around the field dressed in their pink and blue. Students wore their decorated back tags detailing who they were running for.
We will update you all at the end of the week when all sponsorship money has been collected but through kind and generous donations and the collection of some sponsorship money on the day we have already raised £400 for Cancer Research!! Kylie King in Year 9 who ran in memory of her Grandad has raised a huge £245!
Sophie Norrish who organized the event is hoping to build on this for next year making it bigger and better and hopefully we will see more than double the numbers running - including more staff!
