6th Form residential trip - Looking to the future

From the 4th-6th of July our Year 12 students attended the first ever Wellington College residential trip. The residential had the overarching aim of ensuring that our students are 'future ready' and improving on the already excellent teamwork and social skills that they already possess.

Over three days, our students were given specialist guidance on key topics such as CV writing, UCAS applications and how to stand out when applying for jobs. There were a variety of workshops and students took advantage of the network of support available from both the College and Academy staff on hand.

Alongside the academic support, students took part in sport activities, low-rope teambuilding exercises and also enjoyed the outdoor pool. On Thursday the formal End of Year Awards Dinner was held and it was a great chance to celebrate the success of our students from throughout the year. The winners of the yearly awards were:

Academic Achievement - Rhiann Foster

Outstanding Approach - Millie Richards

Most Improved - Jack Walker

Students' Choice - Rochelle Wong

Wellington Ethos Award - Nicola Mitchell Ansell

The atmosphere throughout the trip was one of togetherness with both Academy and College staff commenting on the maturity and community spirit that was evident from every student. Upon reflection, the trip served its purpose of supporting our students as they look to their next steps and also providing the students with a once in a lifetime opportunity.
