On the Outward Bounds trip to Ogwen Cottage in Wales, students were challenged throughout the week to take part in various activities. It is a unique experience, filled with incredibly opportunities, that our students thrived on.
They were split into three groups and worked alongside an instructor and one of the teachers. Groups took part in canoeing, rock climbing, scrambling, abseiling, bouldering and a two day expedition.
On the expedition students had to carry all of their equipment (including tents, sleeping bags, stoves) as well as their food and clothing. Each group on the expeditions did a lot of hill walking, climbed a mountain and did wild camping over night. They were responsible for cooking their own food, building their tents and ensuring that wherever we went, they looked after the environment around them.
Every student excelled on the Outward Bounds trip and they truly were a credit to the Academy. We are so incredibly proud of them. They showed such resilience to activities that really pushed them out of their comfort zones and their positivity and teamwork was so wonderful see (even through the awful weather!!)
