BTEC Level 2 Construction and the Built Environment

Year 10

This is an excellent course for anyone who wishes to work in the construction industry. Taught in our Applied Learning Centre, you will cover a wide variety of construction activities that can lead to employment or an apprenticeship, successful completion of Level 2 will allow those who which to follow a managerial route into construction access to Level 3.

In Year 10 the students will practice the hand skills to carry out various construction projects. There are units in Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Brickwork and Plastering, Plumbing and an introduction to Electrics. Theory lessons will cover the job knowledge in order to complete the written assignments and external exams in Year 11.

Year 11

Students will carry out all the written assignments and practical units, there are 10 units to cover, each of the units are graded pass, merit, distinction, distinction star.

BTEC Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment

Year 12 and 13

The BTEC Level 3 is a 2 year 12 unit qualification that can lead to employment at managerial level in the construction industry or further studies at university. The qualification is predominantly classroom based and involves producing written assignments to cover the criteria at Level 3, these units are again graded at pass, merit, distinction and distinction star and students will require maths and science at grade 5 and above in their GCSE results.
