Houses
All students and staff at The Wellington Academy are proudly part of our house system. We have 4 houses all named after British people who were selected by TWA students that represent our values of being ambitious, inquisitive and independent.
Each house is lead by a member of our senior team and two student Heads of House. Throughout the year students compete in house competitions as enrichment afterschool and during our weekly lunchtime challenges as well as earn housepoints in lesson.
Head of House: Dr Adeniran

Gilbert House is named after Professor Sarah Gilbert, whose groundbreaking work on the COVID-19 vaccine represents innovation, courage, and dedication to helping others. We want to be a house who strives to make a difference — in our school, our community, and beyond. We want to be a house who shows ambition in everything we do, who stays inquisitive in our learning, and who stands independent and resilient when faced with challenges. Above all, we want to be a house who supports one another, celebrates success, and works together to achieve great things.
Head of House: Miss Norrish
Student Head of House: Amy Swarbrick, Charlotte Smith
Named after Lewis Hamilton, Hamilton House represents determination and excellence. Just as Hamilton has shown relentless drive on the world stage, our students are encouraged to push beyond limits, embrace challenge and strive for success in everything they do. Hamilton House embodies ambition, integrity and courage. We celebrate students who demonstrate focus in their learning, pride in their community and the confidence to stand up for what is right. Like our namesake, we believe that setbacks are opportunities to grow stronger and that success is built on discipline, teamwork and self-belief.
Head of House: Mrs Cash
Student Head of House: Amy Thomson, Izzy Shipway

Named after Sir Steve McQueen students are encouraged to think boldly, challenge themselves, and explore new ideas in everyday school life. Being part of McQueen House means belonging to a supportive community that celebrates individuality, creativity and success. Through teamwork, dedication, and healthy competition in our House events, every member of McQueen House contributes to a legacy of excellence and pride. #nevergiveup
