Ofsted Reports
Headteacher’s Response to the Ofsted Report (October 2022)
I am very pleased that Ofsted has recognised The Wellington Academy as a ‘Good’ school in all areas. The report highlights our “very high expectations of pupils and staff alike” and notes that pupils “enjoy a calm and orderly atmosphere in school” and “delight in their strong working relationships with staff.” I am proud that our curriculum is described as ambitious and that our focus on reading, inclusion, and safeguarding has been commended. The positive changes made by our staff and the support of our community have been instrumental in achieving this outcome.
We acknowledge the areas for improvement identified by Ofsted, particularly around curriculum planning and careers education. We are already taking steps to ensure that key concepts are clearly identified and sequenced, and to strengthen our personal, social, and economic education so that pupils can discuss important topics in depth. Our commitment is to build on these strengths and address these areas, ensuring every pupil at The Wellington Academy continues to thrive and succeed.

For those interested in our historical performance, we also maintain an archive of previous reports.
**Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) is the official body for inspecting schools in England. Their reports provide an independent assessment of our school’s performance, leadership, teaching quality, and pupil outcomes. These evaluations help parents, carers, and stakeholders understand how well we are meeting educational standards and where we are making improvements.
Exam Results
Our school’s performance data is published annually by the Department for Education. It provides a detailed overview of pupil achievement, progress scores, and other key accountability measures.
