Senior Leadership Team

Mr Rob Wood
Headteacher
I have been with The Wellington Academy right from the start in 2009, I previously taught at a secondary school just outside of Bath and teach Mathematics. I am married with four children and we have a mad spaniel called Elsie. I enjoy cycling and running as well as most outdoor activities and if I didn’t teach my ideal job would be something outdoors, not sure what though! I wanted to become a teacher because having a good education and being able to achieve good qualifications is the best possible start in life for a young person and the key to future success as an adult. As a teacher and a senior leader I am privileged to be able to provide these opportunities for the pupils at The Wellington Academy.

Mr Jon Hill
Deputy Headteacher
I joined The Wellington Academy in September 2019 as Deputy Head for Teaching and Learning. I started my career in 2006 as a History teacher and have worked at two other schools previously. In my role I will be working to ensure that we have the highest standards of teaching at the Academy and that every student has the opportunity to thrive in our classrooms. I’m originally from Worcester and went to university in Swansea but I now live locally with my family and have come to know the area well. In my spare time you can find me running (sometimes to school and back!), playing a bit of village cricket or the occasional round of golf, doing the odd bit of fishing or simply walking the dog. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Academy so far and feel proud to work here.

Mr Matt Baker
Assistant Headteacher
Mr Baker joined The Wellington Academy in 2014 as a Geography teacher. Mr Baker is also a tutor for Year 8, Raglan House and became Assistant Headteacher in June 2019.

Dr Femi Adeniran
Assistant Headteacher
I joined the Wellington Academy in September 2024 as Assistant Headteacher. Originally trained in Medicine, I completed my medical degree at King’s College London. After a brief period working with acutely ill stroke patients at Kingston Hospital, near London, I realised that my true passion is secondary education. I am deeply committed to supporting young people, understanding how they learn, and creating an educational environment that engages and challenges them. I am a Christian, and my wife, Amy, serves as the Vicar of our local church.

Mrs Jennie Cash
Assistant Headteacher
I joined the Wellington Academy in September 2024 as Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Attendance. Prior to becoming a teacher, I trained as a professional dancer and graduated with a BA(Hons) from Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music & Dance and performed in many productions around the UK & Europe. It was when I was working and performing with the Natashas Project in the Canary Islands, where we were raising awareness of human trafficking with students in schools, that I found a new excitement and love for Performing Arts in education and the benefits it can offer. After teaching and leading in different areas across a wide variety of educational settings, I am incredibly passionate about the pastoral care in secondary schools and giving every student an opportunity to flourish.
Outside of school life I have a husband, a daughter and a very energetic sproodle dog called Oscar. I am excited to work alongside the senior leadership team at Wellington Academy and am committed to creating a safe and calm environment for all students.

Ms Sabrina Hawkins
Deputy Headteacher | Head of Year 11
I joined the Wellington Academy in January 2020 as an Assistant Headteacher. In my role of raising standards, I have the responsibility for ensuring that students can and do succeed; enabling them to confidently take the next steps when they leave the academy. In addition, I also oversee the training and development of teachers who are embarking on their careers, supporting them to support and stretch our students. I have taught previously in Kent, London and Southampton taking on a variety of leadership roles.

Mr Dave Bissington
Associate Leadership | Head of 6th Form
I have been at the Wellington Academy since September 2011, joining as a newly qualified teacher before leading Business and Economics and then moving into the Sixth Form team which I now lead. I worked in sales after graduating from Cardiff University before training as a teacher. I grew up and attended school in Salisbury although have links to Wellington Academy as my step-father attended Tidworth Down School which was located on the site previously. I am a father of two young children and much of my free time is centred around family based activities. I also represent a local Sunday football team.
