Senior Leadership Team
Mr Rob Wood
I have been with The Wellington Academy right from the start in 2009, I previously taught at a secondary school just outside of Bath and teach Mathematics. I am married with four children and we have a mad spaniel called Elsie. I enjoy cycling and running as well as most outdoor activities and if I didn’t teach my ideal job would be something outdoors, not sure what though! I wanted to become a teacher because having a good education and being able to achieve good qualifications is the best possible start in life for a young person and the key to future success as an adult. As a teacher and a senior leader I am privileged to be able to provide these opportunities for the pupils at The Wellington Academy.
Mr Jon Hill
I joined The Wellington Academy in September 2019 as Deputy Head for Teaching and Learning. I started my career in 2006 as a History teacher and have worked at two other schools previously. In my role I will be working to ensure that we have the highest standards of teaching at the Academy and that every student has the opportunity to thrive in our classrooms. I’m originally from Worcester and went to university in Swansea but I now live locally with my family and have come to know the area well. In my spare time you can find me running (sometimes to school and back!), playing a bit of village cricket or the occasional round of golf, doing the odd bit of fishing or simply walking the dog. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Academy so far and feel proud to work here.
Ms Sabrina Hawkins
I joined the Wellington Academy in January 2020 as an Assistant Headteacher. In my role of raising standards, I have the responsibility for ensuring that students can and do succeed; enabling them to confidently take the next steps when they leave the academy. In addition, I also oversee the training and development of teachers who are embarking on their careers, supporting them to support and stretch our students. I have taught previously in Kent, London and Southampton taking on a variety of leadership roles.
Mr Matt Baker
Mr Baker joined The Wellington Academy in 2014 as a Geography teacher, he is also a tutor for Year 8, Raglan House and became Assistant Headteacher in June 2019.
Associate Leadership | Head of Year 10 | Designated Safeguarding Lead
Hello my name is Sophie Norrish. I have worked at The Wellington Academy since September 2013, mostly as a PE teacher but I have also taught other subjects around school. I am currently Head of Year 10 and also now taken on my new role of Associate Assistant Headteacher covering Safeguarding (DSL) and Attendance.
I am very competitive through my love of sport, in particular, netball and also fully behind Hamilton House being the best house in the school!
I am passionate about pastoral care and making it the best it can be at Wellington and am always happy to support with any concern or problem so please do get in touch if needed.
Associate Leadership | Head of Year 11
My name is Rebecca Brosnan and I am currently an Associate Assistant Headteacher in charge of whole school behaviour. Previously I have been a Head of Year and held that post for 5 years because I am incredibly passionate about pastoral care at Wellington. As well as my current role, I am also a PE teacher and started my career here teaching PE in 2016, which I love.
Mr Dave Bissington
Associate Leadership | Head of 6th Form
I have been at the Wellington Academy since September 2011, joining as a newly qualified teacher before leading Business and Economics and then moving into the Sixth Form team which I now lead. I worked in sales after graduating from Cardiff University before training as a teacher. I grew up and attended school in Salisbury although have links to Wellington Academy as my step-father attended Tidworth Down School which was located on the site previously. I am a father of two young children and much of my free time is centred around family based activities. I also represent a local Sunday football team.
